Q. What is Assisted Living?
A. Assisted living communities were created to improve the quality of life for people who need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) but prefer to live as independently as possible for as long as possible.
Assisted living bridges the gap between living on your own and living in a nursing home. It is a way for many people to age-in-place with personal care services and light medical care in an atmosphere of safety and privacy. Monthly fees usually cover basic services including meals, laundry service, weekly housekeeping, social and recreational activities and chaffered transportation.
Q. Is my family member ready for Assisted Living?
A. Assisted living is not only for those who need physical assistance. Full social calendars, chef-prepared meals, and a maintenance-free lifestyle are all reasons why more and more independent seniors are moving into assisted living communities.
